Mr. Richard W. Hampson, age 88, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Hampson was born August 22, 1937, in Graettinger, Iowa, son of the late Merle and Roberta Brinkley Hampson. A veteran of service in the U. S. Army, he had lived in the West Georgia area since 1957 and retired as a supervisor for New Ventures in LaGrange after more than 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked as a truck driver and enjoyed watching westerns.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Williamson Hampson of Hogansville; son Richard Hampson of Franklin; daughter, Diane Knight of Roanoke, AL; bonus sons, Joey Turner (Wendy) of LaGrange, Greg Turner of Hogansville; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Georgia Dykhuis of Des Moines, IA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Kathleen “Dodie” Hampson and Colleen Smith; brother, Ron Hampson; and brothers in-law, Donnie Williamson and Larry Williamson.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell and the Reverend Darryl Yarbrough will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Friday, prior to the service.
