Rev. Dr. R. C. Prescott

DR. R. C. PRESCOTT The Reverend Dr. R. C. Prescott, 86, of Hogansville, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, at his home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday,August 3, at Bible Baptist Church. The Reverend Rodney Ragsdale, The Reverend Keith Reynolds, and the Reverend Jerome Wood will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Dr. Prescott was born July 7, 1924, in Randolph County, AL, son of the late Charlie and Josie Maddox Prescott. An Army veteran of World War Two, he served in the 386th Infantry and received a number of awards, including two Bronze Stars, Phillipine Liberation Medal, Pacific Service Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He served over 60 years in the ministry, pastoring Eastside Baptist Temple in LaGrange for 20 years; Northside Baptist Church in Piedmont, AL for 3 years; Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville for 17 years; and was founding pastor and served Bible Baptist Church in Hogansville for 20 years. He also had a radio ministry for 53 years at radio stations in LaGrange, Roanoke, AL, and Piedmont, AL. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Knight Prescott; grandson, Shane Prescott; great-grandchildren, Shawn Prescott, Hope Prescott, Elizabeth Prescott and Katie Prescott; daughter in-law, Elaine Prescott, all of Hogansville; sister, Irene Miller of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Judge L. Gwen Prescott. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Monday night, August 2nd, at Bible Baptist Church on Hillcrest Rd. Services: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3rd, at Bible Baptist Church on Hillcrest Rd. Interment: Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange
