Reuben J. "Tommy" Prophett

MR. REUBEN J. PROPHETT Mr. Reuben J. "Tommy" Prophett, 92, of LaGrange, died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Hospice LaGrange. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Max McCord officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Born May 17, 1921, in the Salem Community of Troup County, Mr. Prophett was the son of the late Lon and Nobie West Prophett. He was a resident of LaGrange most of his life, an Army Veteran having served in World War II, and retired from Benning Construction Co. in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Shirey Prophett. Survivors include his children, Charlotte Prophett of LaGrange, Reuben "Bubba" Prophett, Jr. and his wife Sheryl of Newnan, Brenda Howard and her husband, Tom of Five Points, AL, Jerry Prophett and his wife, Brenda of LaGrange, Jean Prophett of LaGrange, Judy Prophett of Mobile, AL, Jackie Morris and her husband, John of Fayetteville; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Lola Mae Voelkel of Milwaukee, WI; and brothers, Dute and Tootsie Prophett of Virginia Beach, VA, Ted and Martha Prophett of Fairfax, VA.
