Mrs. Rebecca Braswell Steely, 67, of Notasulga, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital. Mrs. Steely was born on November 19, 1952, in Fort Hood, Texas. She lived in Hogansville through her school years and was a 1970 graduate of Hogansville High School. She lived the past nine years in Notasulga, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling, yard sales, and antiquing. Survivors include her husband, David Steely of Notasulga; sons and daughter-in-law, Matt and Lori Bexton and Andrew Bexton, all of LaGrange; step-daughters and sons in-law, Michele Moedl of Notasulga, Barbara and Travis Buck of Long Creek, SC, and Dawn and Shawn Darragh of Austin, TX; mother, Dorothy Braswell; sisters and brother in-law, Carol Langley and Kaye and Randall Hodge; brother and sister in-law, Lanny and Carol Braswell, all of Hogansville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Steely was preceded in death by her father, Winston L. Braswell, Sr., and her brother, David Braswell. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Randall Hodge officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 until 2 Saturday afternoon. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
