MR. RAYMOND L. STAPP
Mr. Raymond L. Stapp, 76, of Roanoke, AL and formerly of Hogansville, GA died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at his home.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. CDT, Monday, April 19, at Lane's Chapel Methodist Church in Roanoke. The Reverend Patricia Sims will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Born June 14, 1933, in Catoosa County, GA, Mr. Stapp was the son of the late Carl and Naomi Wood Stapp. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and served as a loadmaster flying cargo into combat zones. He was a retired auto mechanic specializing in foreign autos, worked for Volkswagen of America as well as private garages, and also served as an instructor at technical colleges in Dayton and Xenia, Ohio. Mr. Stapp lived in Hogansville for twenty years before making his home in Roanoke in October, 2009, and was a member of Lane's Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Stapp of Roanoke; daughter and son in-law, Terri Yvonne and Timothy Lee Spradlin of Hogansville; sons, Rodney Eugene Stapp and Timothy Ray Stapp of Roanoke; sisters, Dorothy Marie McHan of Apopka, FL and Barbara Jean Middlesworth of Dayton, OH; brother, Rev. Oscar Ezekiel Stapp of LaFayette, GA; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Lee Stapp.
In lieu of flowers, it was Mr. Stapp's wish that friends remember his wife with a plant or an act of kindness.
