Randy Harris

MR. RANDY HARRIS Mr. Randy Harris, 69, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at West Georgia Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with military honors. The Reverend James Calhoun will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Mr. Harris was born January 28, 1940, in Newnan, son of the late Homer and Elma Teal Harris. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the U. S. Air Force after 21 years service. He returned to make his home in Hogansville in 1979 and also retired as data processing manager for the City of LaGrange after 21 years service. Mr. Harris was a member of Highland Baptist Church, served on the Hogansville Planning Commission, was charter president of the Hogansville Optimist Club, and was twice named Citizen of the Year by the Hogansville Pilot Club. Known as "Pops" by many children, he coached Little League baseball and football and sponsored many children who could not afford to play. He enjoyed golf and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Harris of Hogansville; sons and daughters in-law, Steve and Barbara Harris of Pikeville, KY, Alex and Melissa Harris and Aaron and Dawn Harris, all of LaGrange; daughter, Shannon Dunlap of Largo, FL; brother and sister in-law, Ronnie and Gail Harris of Hogansville; and ten grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Friday night, December 18th, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Services: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19th, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Interment: Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville
