Phillip Warren Smith

MR. PHILLIP W. SMITH Mr. Phillip Warren Smith, 63, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014, at West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born June 15, 1951, in LaGrange, son of the late James Lewis Smith and Mary Clyde Simmons Smith Clark. A graduate of Hogansville High School, he lived in LaGrange for a number of years, was a self-employed carpenter, and was a member of Ayres Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gwen Smith of LaGrange; step-sons, Wayne Watford of Smith Station, AL, Jerry Watford of Hogansville, Marty Watford of LaGrange; sister, Laura Proctor of Pensacola, FL; brothers, Gary Smith of LaGrange, Dr. James Smith of Pensacola, Vernon Smith of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Alex Watford, Damon Watford, Nicholas Watford, Kennedy Watford; and a great-granddaughter, Leah Ramsey. The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Ayres Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Wayne Hester officiating. The family will greet friends at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ayres Memorial United Methodist Church. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
