Mr. Perk Hammett, 93, of the Corinth Community, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at his home.
Mr. Hammett was born February 24, 1931, in Corinth, son of the late Jim Brockman Hammett and Kate Kee Hammett. A veteran of service in the U.S. Army, he was a longtime employee of Uniroyal, Inc. and Westek in Hogansville. He enjoyed playing baseball as a young man and was an avid golfer all his life. He was Baptist by faith, was a member of the Hogansville Golf Club and the Hogansville Masonic Lodge, and served on the Corinth Cemetery Board for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Hammett; daughter, Lynn Cash and James Hannah, Jr.; sons, Johnny Hammett and David and Melissa Hammett, all of Corinth; brother, Allen Hammett of Hogansville; grandchildren, William Hammett, James Hannah III, Tyler Cash, Megan Chapman, Kody Mitchell, Anna Hammett, Brandon Hammett, Noah Hammett; great-grandchildren, Hartley Blair Hammett, Tucker Cash, Turner Cash, Gage Becerra, Maci Becerra, and Rhett Hammett; He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Leigh Hammett.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, and interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, and from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service.
