Paula Aline Strickland

March 9, 1945 — April 27, 2014

PAULA ALINE STRICKLAND Paula "Aline" Strickland, 69, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Mrs. Strickland passed away after a three-month stay at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Dean Strickland, who passed away on April 28, 2012, and her parents, Charles Glen Roberts and Marion Wells Roberts, and her aunt, Luella Hunt, all of Columbus, GA. She was born on March 9, 1945, in Americus, GA, and lived most of her life in Columbus and Fort Benning, where she and her husband raised their three children. However, since her father and her husband retired from the U. S. Army, she lived many other places, including Europe several times. She had lived in Fountain, FL since 1992, when she and her husband returned from a six-year station in Vicenza, Italy. Eventually, she came to Hogansville, GA, so her children could help care for her in her last days. Mrs. Strickland, lovingly called "Muffie" by her grandchildren, gave of herself unselfishly. She enjoyed cooking for others and had many recipes she willingly shared with anyone who asked. Over the years, there were countless families she helped in any way she saw that was necessary. She was quick-witted and loved to share or hear a good joke. Love and laughter were a huge part of her life, as well as her unwavering faith. She left us with many memories of wonderful times and her presence will be greatly missed. Mrs. Strickland leaves behind a loving family, who will miss her very much: son, Charles Glen "Chuck" Strickland and wife, Rhonda Strickland, and grandsons, Charles "Glen" Strickland, II and Patrick Dean Strickland, all of Hogansville; daughter, Kimberly "Starr" Strickland of Columbus; and son, David Benjamin "Ben" Strickland and wife, Brandi Brooks Strickland, and granddaughter, Morgan "Brooke" Strickland, also of Hogansville. While she had no siblings, she had many relatives she was extremely close to, including her aunt, Sybil Wells of Columbus; aunt, Audrey Banks and cousin, Connie Pickelsimer, of Sylvester, GA; cousins, Beth Rode of Leesburg, GA, Priscilla Eller of Pine Mountain, GA, Dawn Cail of Seale, AL, and many other cousins. Mrs. Strickland also leaves behind many friends who will miss her dearly. At her request, there will no funeral service. Instead, her children will host a Memorial Homegoing Celebration on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 3:00 p.m., at the home of her son, Chuck Strickland. It will be given in a "church dinner on the grounds" fashion. Anyone who would like to join the family is asked to please bring a covered dish, spend time with her family, and share memories of Aline with them all. E-mail her daughter Starr Strickland starz965.ss@gmail.com with any questions. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Strickland requested that contributions be made to West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240. Condolences may be expressed or viewed at www.mckibbenfuneralhome.com Services: A memorial homegoing celebration will be held beginning at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the home of her son and daughter in-law, Chuck and Rhonda Strickland, in Hogansville.
