MR. PAUL D. GAZAWAY Mr. Paul D. Gazaway, 88, of Hogansville, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at West Georgia Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, at the graveside in College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 Wednesday night. Mr. Gazaway was born November 16, 1925, in Red Oak in Old Campbell County, son of the late John Calvin and Onie Kilgo Gazaway. An Army veteran of World War Two, he served in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star and other medals. He held varied jobs throughout his life, including being the first cook at Waffle House #1, trolley car driver in Atlanta, Lockheed Aircraft employee, delivering Merita Bread, and operating Little House Restaurant with his brother, Tommy; however, his love of all job was cooking. Survivors include his wife, Essie Messer Gazaway of Hogansville; sons and daughters in-law, Jeffery and Pamela Messer of Newnan, Kevin and Brandy Messer of Hogansville, Eddie Dunson of East Point; daughters and sons in-law, Elissa and Adam Graves of Hogansville, Paula Dunson of East Point; a beloved friend of many years, Walter Webb of Centralhatchee; and grandchildren, Trey Messer and Britni Monday. He was preceded in death by his brothers, J. C. Tommy, and James Gazaway; and sisters, Frances Moore and Mary Parker. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 5 until 8 Wednesday night, January 8th, at Claude A.
