PASTOR BENNY PHILLIPS Pastor Benny Phillips, of LaGrange, left this life Tuesday, September 3, 2013, to endeavor life on the other side. The funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 5, at the LaGrange Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Reverend Leonard Hodge and Mr. Jimmy Matthews will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. The body has been carried to his home at 2010 Hammett Road and the family will receive friends at home Wednesday evening. Pastor Phillips was the son of the late Reverend Tom Phillips and Nellie Kate Phillips. He preached across the United States in his tent revivals and once had the pleasure of preaching in the world's largest tent. A television and radio evangelist, his voice had been heard from coast to coast. He returned to LaGrange in 1972, for several years was associated with McKibben Funeral Home, and established Faith Tabernacle Church where he blessed hundreds through the years and remained pastor until his death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his lovely bride, Gail Phillips; daughters, Lena Franklin, Amanda Beaver and Debbie Walton; and grandsons who spent a great deal of time with their PawPaw, Jacob "Crash" Beaver and Jordan "JoJo" Beaver. He is also survived by his sister, Duwanda Phillips and two special nieces, Ariel Gomez and Nicki Payne and nephew, Toby Payne; sister in-law, Ann Phillips and nephews, Gabe, Abe, Matt, and Daniel, and nieces Angel and Chasity; and a host of friends and acquaintances. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
