RANDY ALLEN
Owen Randall (Randy) Allen, beloved husband, father, and grandfather of Mableton, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 9, 2013, at Tranquility Hospice in Austell.
Randy is survived by his wife, Marice, to whom he was married for 55 years; by son, Brian Allen and his wife Colleen of Dover NH, and their children, Matthew and Ryan; by daughter, Amy LeBlanc and her husband Ned of Marietta, and their children, Brandon and Sarah; by son, Scott Allen and his wife Sally of Snellville, and their son, Owen. In addition, he is survived by brothers, Dr. Joe F. Allen of Clemson, SC and Thomas H. Allen and his wife Nancy of Williamson; sister in-law, Betty Sue Allen of Hogansville; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brother, G. W. Allen, Jr.; and sisters, Shirley Cremer and Sara Lindsey.
Born June 28, 1932, in Hogansville to Grady Walker Allen and Sallie Shanks Allen, Randy graduated from Hogansville High School in 1950, served four years in the U.S. Navy, and then attended Auburn University. He worked over 10 years as a Traffic Engineer in the Planning Department of Georgia Department of Transportation and then retired after working 34 years for a private contractor, M.E. Hunter & Associates (later MASTEC), where he served as a Senior Estimator and VP. He was a very active member for over 50 years of the former Liberty Hill Church of Christ, now South Cobb Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and elder, taught Bible classes, and led singing. He was active in Boy Scout Troop 531, where he served as treasurer and mentored scouts working on the rank of Eagle Scout. He was an avid Auburn War Eagle and Atlanta Braves fan.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, at South Cobb Church of Christ, 1776 Clay Rd. in Mableton, with Minister Tommy Tidwell and Minister Boyd Cribb officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Minister Robert Brooks officiating.
The family will receive friends at South Cobb Church of Christ from 5 until 7 Friday evening and from 10 until 11 Saturday morning.
The Allen family is greatly thankful for the care at Tranquility Hospice in Austell and at The Lake House in Douglasville.
