MR. OTIS EARL STRIBLING
Mr. Otis Earl Stribling, 89, of LaGrange, died Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Hospice LaGrange.
Otis was born September 27, 1920, in Woodbury, to the late John Jefferson and Lanie Daniel Stribling. He was a graduate of Woodbury High School and was an Army veteran of World War Two. During his lifetime, Otis was a successful businessman and real estate investor and will be especially remembered for his ownership of the Shell service station located in the flat, at the corner of Hamilton and Whitesville Streets. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Otis is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 67 years, Grace Stribling; daughter, Linda D. "Strib-Pharmacy" Stribling; sons, Phillip E. and Kitty Stribling and Ty and Tracey "Strib-Surgery" Stribling; son in-law once removed, Edward P. "Eddie" Lucas, all of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Brook Stribling Dupree, P. J. Stribling, Clayton Earl (Clay) Stribling, Beau Parker (Beau) Stribling, and Alysse Christine (Lysse) Stribling, all of LaGrange; great-grandchildren, Gabby Stribling, Grant Stribling, Payton Dupree and Katie Dupree; ssiter, Nell Loftin of Woodbury; sister in-law, Frances Stribling of Newnan; sister and brother in-law, Elsie and Toby Pike of LaGrange; brother in-law, Fred "Cat" Thompson, also of LaGrange; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, at the Baptist Tabernacle, with the Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. A private burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family very respectfully declines flowers and asks those desiring make memorial contributions to Hospice LaGrange.
