Mr. Otis C. "Junior" Smith, 85, of Grantville, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born April 6, 1937, in Coweta County, son of the late Otis Levi Smith and Cora Inez Smith. A lifelong resident of Coweta County, he retired after operating Smith's Union 76 Station in Grantville and later worked with his son at Smith's Auto Body Service. He loved to work with children and was a former Scout leader and long-time Little League Baseball coach. Mr. Smith was a member of Welcome All Baptist Church in Hogansville and Luther G. Watkins Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Smith of Grantville; his children, Mike and Cindy Smith of Grantville, Carolyn and Robert Fowler of LaGrange, Cindy and Greg Tucker of Hogansville; close friends that he considered as children, Randy and Trenee Johnson, Jimmy and Gloria Gantt, Gayla Prince and Dudley; his sisters, Mary Ellen Gosdin (Jim), Rosie Fallon (Eddie); grandchildren, Michael A. Smith, Jr. (Jamie), Crystal Hand (Adam), Brian Futral, Tony Futral (Julie), Greg Tucker, Jr. (Jennifer), Jonathan Tucker, Samantha Fowler; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Tommy McLeroy and the Reverend Barney Howard will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday night.
