MR. O. C. (BOB) WILLIAMS
Mr. O. C. (Bob) Williams, 89, of Grantville, died Monday, November 12, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, at the graveside in the Williams Family Cemetery at Grantville, with the Reverend Emmett Clark officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Wednesday night.
Mr. Williams was born January 23, 1923, in Blackburn, Arkansas, son of the late Alfred and Minerva Redfern Williams. A resident of Meriwether County since 1957, he was a former mayor of Lone Oak, was a member of the Baptist church, and retired as a freight agent from the Atlanta and West Point Railroad after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War Two and had remained active in the 104th Infantry Timberwolves Association.
Survivors include his daughter and son in-law, Ann and Neal Edwards of Port Orange, FL, son, Ed Williams of Lawrenceville; sister, Lee Parker of Lone Star, TX; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Johnson Williams.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
