Mr. Norman L. Smith, 86, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born September 18, 1938, in Hogansville, son of the late Herschel Benjamin Smith and Ella Olene Robinson Smith. A resident of Hogansville for many years, he had lived in LaGrange for the past twenty years and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in LaGrange. He was a veteran of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, served as a Lieutenant for the Hogansville Police Department for more than 25 years, and retired from West Georgia Home Health. Following his retirement, Mr. Norman served as a dedicated and valued part-time associate of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Jutta Smith of LaGrange; daughter, Joyce Smith Hosmer of Forsyth; step-children, Susan Barrett (Stephen) of Snellville, Tina Gaddy of LaGrange, Bobby Ray Sheheane (Robin) of Macon, Vonnie Hanson (Tony) of Hogansville, and Troy Sheheane (Michelle) of Newnan; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Spradlin and Frances Eason; and his brothers, Albert Smith and Mallory Smith.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Donald Yancey will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Friday, prior to the service.
