Nellie Ruth Powell

Mrs. Nellie Ruth Powell, 69, of Newnan, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Powell was born February 17, 1947, in Newnan, daughter of the late Paul and Lillie Manning Jacobs. She was raised in Columbus, but lived most of her adult life in Coweta County, and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Lee Powell of Newnan; her children, Ralph Lee Powell, Jr. and his wife Samantha of Hogansville, James Larry Powell and his wife Trish of Luthersville, Amy Elaine Sutton and her husband Chris of Newnan; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, James Jacobs of Columbus, Joe Jacobs of Stockbridge; sisters in-law, Marie Narvaez, Mary Nell Thrower; aunt, Ruthie Mae Murphy; and several cousins, including Shirley Pate. She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Jacobs. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Jody Thrower officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Wednesday. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
