Myrna Joyce Nicander

Mrs. Myrna Joyce Newmyer Nicander, 84, of Grantville, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her home.

Mrs. Nicander was born February 15, 1940, in Del Norte, CO, a daughter of the late Harry Leroy Newmyer, Sr. and Edith Emma King Newmyer. She was employed as a loan officer for Wells Fargo in San Francisco, CA for a number of years and retired from the State of California Finance Department. She had made her home in Grantville since 1997 and also retired from Wal-Mart in Newnan.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters, Edith Irene Tucker and her husband Jerry Tucker of Grantville, Halsey Ray Newmyer of Hooper, CO, Patricia Smith of Murray, KY, Ethel Vick of Thorton, CO, Judy Gunter Clements of Monte Vista, CO, Mary Nicander and her husband Mark Nicander of El Verano, CA, Betty Jones of Clifton, CO, and Becky Mott of San Luis, CA; and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Clarence Gilland; brother, Harry L. Newmyer, Jr.; sister Constance Newmyer Smith; and her her husbands, Ronald Gilland and Bruce Nicander.

Inurnment will be beside her parents in Alamosa Cemetery in Alamosa, CO. The family is not planning a memorial service at this time.
