Muriel Gunn Hamby

Mrs. Muriel Gunn Hamby, 66, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Hamby was born December 28, 1953, in Langdale, Alabama, daughter of the late Alver Turner Gunn, Jr. and the late Evelyn Colson Gunn Elliott. A graduate of Southern Union State Junior College, she was a registered nurse and retired from Labor and Delivery at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Survivors include her daughters and sons in-law, Paula and David Flagg of LaGrange, Niki Hamby and Kevin Henson of West Point; son and daughter in-law, John and Lisa Stephens of LaGrange; thirteen grandchildren; her former husband, O'Neal Hamby; brothers and sisters, Bubba Gunn and his wife Kathy, Pete Gunn, Michael Moncus, Timothy and Nancy Moncus, Nan Moncus Helms, all of LaGrange. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Virginia Moncus Gunn; and her sisters, Dee Dee Gunn Hanners, Patty Gunn, and Janie Moncus Hibbs. The family is not planning a memorial service at this time. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
