Modenia Harden Smith

MRS. MODENIA H. SMITH Mrs. Modenia Harden Smith, 76, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at The Medical Center in Columbus. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14, at Callaway Baptist Church in LaGrange. The Reverend Ronnie Jordan, the Reverend Udell Addison, and Brother Corky Addison will officiate and interment will be in Meadoway Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night. Mrs. Smith was born July 9, 1935, in Randolph County, Alabama, daughter of the late Cliff and Effie Harden. A member of Callaway Baptist Church, she had lived in Troup County since 1969. She was employed as a supervisor at Playtex International for 28 years, retired from Raytheon Corporation, and was currently working at Goodwill. Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Marty and Donna Smith; sister, Bernice Martin; brothers, Carlis Martin, Hollis Martin, and Rodney Martin, all of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar C. (Bill) Smith; and her daughter, Judy Addison. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
