MRS. MINNIE MEIGS Mrs. Minnie Tumlin Meigs, 82, of Roanoke, AL, died Tuesday, June 16, 2008, at her home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Sonny McCormick will officiate and interment will be in the Luthersville Cemetery. Mrs. Meigs was born March 4, 1927 in Talladega County, AL, daughter of the late Sidney Warren Tumlin and the late Mamie Elizabeth Medley Tumlin. Before making her home in Roanoke in 2004, she lived in Harris County and was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include her daughters, Ara Wilene Nelson of Cusseta, AL and Esther Smith of Roanoke, AL; step-daughter, Joyce Caldwell of Marietta; step-sons, Kenneth Murphy and Floyd Murphy, of California, and Roger Murphy of Florida; sister, Mamie Ruth Tidwell of Wadley, AL; brother, David Larry Tumlin of Lineville, AL; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Buford Powell, Frank Murphy and Troy Meigs; and her son, James Lee Powell. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
