MILDRED M. JOBE
Mildred M. Comer Jobe, long-time resident of Montgomery, Alabama and native of Prentess County, Mississippi, died peacefully in her daughter's home in Hogansville, Georgia on February 3, after a prolonged illness.
Mildred was the daughter of Myrtle Adams Comer and William Henry Comer (deceased) of Booneville, Mississippi. She attended Wheeler High School and went on to MSCW and Ole Miss.
A career of working in the medical administration field led to the formation of Milco, a company of owned and leased nursing homes in the state of Alabama. Serving on the board of the Alabama Nursing Home Association for many years and president in 1989, Ms. Jobe worked to better the benefits of the elderly through government programs. She was instrumental in developing the certificate of need program, procuring federal funding for hospitals and enabling the purchase of much needed vital equipment.
While living in Montgomery, she was very active in the Civitan Club. She enjoyed world travel, SEC football, Wynlakes Country Club, book club and bridge.
Ms. Jobe was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Henry Comer; and sister in-law, Peggy Cox Comer, all residents of Booneville, Mississippi. She leaves behind two daughters, Lynn Pace (Larry) of Cleveland, Mississippi and Debbie Jobe of Hogansville, Georgia; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as her nephew, Thomas Comer (Laurie), niece, Linda Comer Caldwell (Rick), and nephew, John Comer.
Services will be Saturday, February 8, at Booneville Funeral Home, Booneville, Mississippi, beginning at noon for visitation, followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
