Michael Everett Neal

Mr. Michael Everett Neal, 69, of Greenville, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Neal was born January 10, 1956, in Atlanta, son of the late George Nelson Neal, Sr. and Melba Sanders Neal. A veteran of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he had made his home in Meriwether County since 1980, retired from the Ford Motor Company Hapeville Assembly Plant after 32 years of service, and was a member of the United Auto Workers. Mr. Neal was a member of Hogansville Church of God, was a self-taught mechanic, was a charter boat captain and merchant marine officer, and also loved to hunt and fish. He dearly loved his family and friends, and is remembered as never meeting a stranger, loving to cut up and pick at his friends, and giving nicknames to many of his friends and family members.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Laura Neal of Greenville; his children, Melodie Hicks and her husband Chris Hicks of Manchester, April Bairentine of Greenville, Michael Neal and his wife Ashley Neal of Hogansville; grandchildren, Hope Black, Timothy Neal, Charity Fowler, Kirstie Neal, Autumn Webster, Faith Neal, Tyler Neal, Trenton Bairentine, Alyssa Neal, Izabelle Neal; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, George Nelson Neal, Jr. and his wife Becky Neal of Dacula, and Mark Neal of Greenville; his best friend of many years, Robert T. Ross and his wife Rhonda Ross of Milner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in-law, Tommy Bairentine; his grandsons, Korey Latham Hicks and Dewayne Black; and his sister, Cindy Neal Johnson.

The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, at Hogansville Church of God, with the Reverend Randall Hodge officiating.

In lieu of flowers, it is the desire of the family that memorial contributions be made to Hogansville Church of God.
