Michael John Ashline

December 22, 1957 — June 24, 2021

Mr. Michael John Ashline, 63, of Gay and formerly of Newnan, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at his home. Mr. Ashline was born December 22, 1957 in Lowville, New York, son of the Harlow John Ashline and Dolores Gerow Ashline. A veteran of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he spent most of his working career serving as a supervisor in lumber and paper mills. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and skilled hunter and could be found on any given fall or winter morning, deep in the woods practicing his craft. He instilled a love of hunting and fishing and survival craft to his sons and grandsons. He had a deep love for the military and was a very proud, and patriotic veteran. He was a jack of all trades and a skilled mechanic, carpenter, and had a knack for computers. Survivors include his sons, Jonathan "John" Ashline and his wife Jennifer of Newnan and sons Brayden Miles Ashline and Cooper James Ashline; and Jeremy Ashline of Newnan and his children Tyler Ashline, Ryan Ashline, and Piper Louise Ashline; his siblings, Helen Sears of Michigan, Diane Chartrand (Fred) of Harrisville, NY, Wayne Ashline (Linda) of Lowville, NY, Gary Ashline (Marcia), Brian Ashline (Brenda), Joyce Mellnitz (Robbie) all of Castorland, NY, Carol Dillabough of Newnan, Allen Ashline (Dawn) of Croghan, NY; aunt, Tiny Gerow of Croghan, NY; and uncle, Thomas Gerow of Lowville, NY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Ashline; brother, Bruce Ashline; uncle, Milton Gerow; and aunt Joyce Wassman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 9. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
