MR. MELVIN J. LASKY
Mr. Melvin J. Lasky, 77, of Luthersville, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Southland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Peachtree City.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Joe Felder will officiate and interment will be in the Luthersville Cemetery, with Masonic graveside rites.
Mr. Lasky was born June 13, 1931, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, son of the late Joseph and Marian Lasky. A resident of Luthersville since 1984, he had served as a city councilman, was a member of Luthersville Baptist Church and the Luthersville Lions Club, along with Greenville Masonic Lodge #321, the Fayette County Shrine Club, and the Yaarab Temple. Mr. Lasky was a handgun enthusiast, enjoyed photography and travel, and enjoyed history and visiting Civil War sites.
Survivors include his sons and daughters in-law, Alan and Carol Lasky of Stone Mountain, Dwayne and Robin Lasky of Peachtree City, Michael and Roxanne Lasky of Houston, TX; and Keith Lasky of Summerall, MS; sister, Dolly Yauk and niece, Lynn Yauk, both of Fullerton, CA; grandchildren, Holly Lasky, Alan Lasky, Jr., Jessica Lasky, Jonathan Lasky, Brandon Lasky, and Sean Lasky; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Lasky and Noah Lasky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lasky, and son, Terry Lasky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
