MR. MELVIN L. BOWMAN
Mr. Melvin L. Bowman, 73, of Hogansville, died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Randall Hodge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night.
Mr. Bowman was born May 24, 1940, in Meriwether County, son of the late Earl and Eddie Lee Wilkins Bowman. A resident of Troup County most of his life, he was a member of Hogansville Church of God and was a retired building contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved music, having written several gospel songs in recent years.
Survivors include his wife, June Bowman of Hogansville; daughters, Melanie Bowman Dodgen and her husband, David of Valley, AL, Kandy Bowman Crowe and her husband, Emory of LaGrange; son and daughter in-law, Ron and Michelle Bowman of Hogansville; sister, Gladys Walker of Hogansville; nine grandchildren, Roni Bowman, Jenna Bowman, B. J. Brookshire, Derek Brookshire, Casey Brookshire, Logan Dodgen, Jesse Dodgen, Travis Dodgen, Kindall Dodgen; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Bowman.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Interment: Myrtle Hill Cemetery
