MRS. MELISSA H. SMITH Mrs. Melissa Hanners Smith, 61, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her home. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday. Mrs. Smith was born March 16, 1951, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Earl J. Hanners and Doris Edwards Hanners. A resident of Troup County most of her life, she was a 1969 graduate of Hogansville High School, had been employed as a private duty licensed practical nurse and was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. She was a loving mother to her daughter and son in-law, Missy and Jeremy McCollough of LaGrange and was a caring grandmother and NaNa to her granddaughters, Sydney Clark and Catherine McCollough. Survivors also include her brothers, Earl J. Hanners, Jr. and his wife, Scarlett of Brooks, Dr. Richard Hanners and his wife, Susie of Rock Hill, SC, Mike Hanners and his wife, Edna of LaGrange; sisters, Marie Johnson and Debbie Martin and her husband, David, of Hogansville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
