MELISSA JETER RIDGEWAY
Mrs. Melissa Jeter Ridgeway, 69, of Grantville, died Monday, February 28, 2011, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Wayne Sutton and the Reverend Richard Campbell will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 Thursday night.
Mrs. Ridgeway was born November 11, 1941, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Lewis and Louise Pate Jeter. A resident of Stone Mountain for a number of years, she returned to Grantville in 1992, where she retired as City Clerk and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville. She was an avid square dancer, and enjoyed bird watching and NASCAR racing; but, the love for her children, grandchildren, and family was most important to her.
Survivors include her son, Mitchell Ridgeway of Marietta, his wife, June, and their children, Elizabeth, Michelle, and Matthew Ridgeway; her son, Michael Ridgeway of Grantville, his wife, Elizabeth, his son, Heath and Beth Ridgeway, his grandchildren, Amy and Kylie Ridgeway, and Melissa's step-grandchildren, Zack, Lauren, and Chris Norton. She is also survived by her brother and sister in-law, Steve and Lucy Jeter of Hiwassee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes, P. O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
