Mrs. Mavis Moore Garrett, 95, of Hogansville, GA passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Garrett was born September 2, 1921, in Heard County, daughter of the late Johnnie and Pearl Wilson Moore. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she was manager of Allen's 5 & 10 for many years and retired as a bookkeeper from Clark-Holder Clinic. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville.
She is survived by her sister, Faye Moore Trussell of Fairburn; nieces and nephews, Dan Lee Moore, Shari Moore Cox, Ralph Wilson Moore, Francis Moore Hill, John Duane Moore, Timothy James Moore, Beverly Young Wallace, James Moore Young, Lee Arrington Alderman, Toni Arrington Duffey, Jerry Moore Arrington, Bobby Alfred Arrington; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Garrett; and her sisters and brothers, Bobbie Arrington, Lucile Wilson, Pierce Moore and Frank Moore.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 23, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Frank Sledge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Hogansville or to a favorite charity.
