Mavis Murphy Beck

Mrs. Mavis Murphy Beck, age 83, of Luthersville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Beck was born September 5, 1942, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late James Jackson Murphy and Beatrice Rowe Murphy. A resident of Michigan for almost 40 years, she was a member of Shields Baptist Church in Shields, Michigan and had been employed as a hospital pharmacy technician before returning to make her home in Meriwether County in 1999. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed playing the piano, and was a loving mother to her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Ann Raines of Luthersville; son, William M. “Bill” Beck (Tina) of Warren, MI; grandchildren, Brandon Miller (Kayla), Billy Beck, Crystal Beck, Heather Butler; ten great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Arnold Murphy and Larry Murphy (Lisa), all of Luthersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. “Bill” Beck; and her son, Timothy James Beck.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Donny Shelton officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service.
