Matthew Pyles

July 21, 1985 — September 3, 2026

LaGrange

Matt Pyles, 41, of LaGrange, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home.

Matt, known as “Love”, “Daddy”, and “Mappy”, to his children, “Big Son” to his parents, and “Bubba”, to his little sister, Emily (Kyle) Dupuis, was born in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida to Tommy and Victoria Pyles on July 21, 1985. He had two big sisters, Lynda Brooks (Steve) and Cathy Pyles; and was preceded in death by an older brother, Mark Curtis Pyles. Matt made a career driving big trucks, just like his father and PawPaw Pyles had before him.

During Matt’s first marriage, his daughter, Harmony (Harley) Teal, and son, Matthew Robert Curtis Pyles, were born and brought great pride and joy into his life. Matt later married the love of his life, Denevia Johnston, and became the bonus dad, “Mappy”, to three little girls, Christine, Cheyenne and Hunter Sailor. His daughter, Harmony, gave him one of the greatest gifts, a granddaughter, Magnolia, “Maggie”. His mother in love, Paula Cooper, unselfishly moved in during his valiant fight with ALS, to help care for him.

In addition to his wife, children, and siblings, Matt is survived by his mother, Victoria Hammond Pyles; grandmother, Mary Cowart Hammond; Aunts, Kathryn (Stuart) Spears, Anna (Mike) Bergeron, and Mora Radford; his Uncle Bill (Jeanette); and nieces, nephews, and many, many cousins. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Pyles, on September 2, 2026; maternal grandfather, Bobby B. Hammond; paternal grandparents, Charles E. and Louise V. Pyles; uncles, Tony Charles Pyles and Bobby Timothy Pyles, and his aunt, Carolyn Pyles Senn.

A celebration of Matt’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Brad Thompson will officiate and inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
