Mary Sue Shivers

MRS. MARY SUE SHIVERS Mrs. Mary Sue Shivers, 93, of Rainbow City, AL and formerly of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at McGuffey Healthcare Center in Gadsden, AL. Mrs. Shivers was born July 15, 1922, in Hartwell, daughter of the late John and Lacy Phillips Saylors. She was an active pastor's wife and lovingly supported her husband's ministry as they served a number of Methodist churches in this area. Before making her home in Rainbow City in 2013, she lived in Hogansville for 30 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville and the Green Bough Garden Club. Survivors include her husband, the Reverend Marion M. Shivers of Rainbow City; sons and daughters in-law, Steve and Becky Shivers of Gadsden, AL, Richard and Susan Shivers of Buford; grandsons, Matthews Shivers, Heath Shivers, Greg and Ashley Shivers; a great-grandson, Simon Shivers; sister, Frances and J. C. Bailey of Hartwell; and brother, Benson and Nancy Saylors of Hartwell; The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend John Alexander will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Methodist Childrens Home, 500 S.
