Mrs. Mary Halsey Royster, 93, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Royster was born June 10, 1930, in Roanoke, Alabama, daughter of the late Cecil Halsey and Mamie Henry Halsey. A resident of Meriwether County since 1987, she was employed by Playtex in Atlanta, Mead Corporation in Atlanta, Goody's in Manchester, and Eckerd's Distribution in Newnan prior to her retirement. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables and fruits that she raised.
Survivors include a son, Donald Wingo of LaGrange; daughter in-law, Nola Shelnutt of Thomaston; grandchildren, Joshua Royster of Greenville who she raised as a son, Tabitha Ellington (Shawn) of Thomaston, Matthew Royster (Tiffany) of Luthersville; great-grandchildren, Cynthia, Jaxon, Takota, Alanna, Kyra, Parker; a great-great-granddaughter, Willow; and her sister, Margaret Kipfinger of Columbus, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert L. Royster; and sons, Herbert Randal Royster and Tommy Douglas Royster.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Stoney Halsey will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery in Roanoke. at 1:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Thursday.
