MRS. MARY HELEN McCOY Mrs. Mary Helen McCoy, 80, of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at her home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, at Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. Dr. Gary Howard will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday night. Mrs. McCoy was born February 8, 1931, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Lewis Alfred Washington and the late Gertrude Carter Washington. A lifelong resident of Meriwether County, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was employed for many years at Nabisco Company in Woodbury. She had a deep love for her family and her home, and she especially enjoyed flower gardening. Survivors include her husband, Wilbur J. McCoy of Rocky Mount; her children and their spouses, Alfred and Tressa McCoy, Bruce McCoy, Becky and Charles Bryan, Barry McCoy, Bryan McCoy, all of Rocky Mount, Beth and Ron Gay of Bowdon; brother, Howard Washington of Norfolk, VA; 16 grandchildren, along with one grandchild who preceded her in death; and 16 great-grandchildren.
