Mary Courtney Massey

Mrs. Mary C. Massey, 90, of Aragon and formerly of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Winthrop Health and Rehabilitation in Rome. Mrs. Massey was born November 26, 1930, in Stewart County, daughter of the late J. V. Courtney and Gladys Bradshaw Courtney Phelps. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she had lived with her son in Aragon since 2013. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Trinity Worship Center, was awarded her Bachelor's degree from LaGrange College in 1987, and was an avid reader. Survivors include her sons, Tommy Moon of Roswell, Bobby Moon and his wife Shirley of Aragon; grandchildren, Tommy Moon, Jr., Tammy Oaks, Rande Wills, Cassandra Simmons, Dena Flanagan, Shannon Moon, and Craig Moon; sixteen great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Terry Rainwater officiating. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
