Mary Helen Attaway

Mrs. Mary Helen Attaway, 91, of Grantville, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Attaway was born February 15, 1929, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Issac Rutherford Brown and Oretha Fomby Brown. A resident of Coweta County most of her life, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Rocky Mount Community, and was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. Survivors include her children, Steve Attaway and his wife Patty, Jane Gore, Greg Attaway, Eddie Attaway and his wife Denise, all of Grantville, Terry Attaway of Palmetto, Alicia Copeland also of Palmetto; sister, Elizabeth Bryant of Albany; brother, Roy Brown and his wife Glenda of Grantville; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Attaway was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Attaway; son in-law, Bob Gore; sister, Katherine Barber; and brother, Ed Brown. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, at the graveside in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Kenneth Heinzel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
