Martha Young Kirkland

Mrs. Martha Young Kirkland, 96, of Moreland, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mrs. Kirkland was born July 18, 1925, in Atlanta, daughter of the late Roy Glenn Young and Lessie Johnson Young. A former resident of the West End area of Atlanta, she had lived in Coweta County since 1967 and was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville, where she had been a member of the choir and was active in the Sewing Circle and Quilters. She had been active in square dancing and western round dance groups since 1962, was a member of Star Fleet International since 1995, and was a member of Clan Douglas Society. Survivors include her son I. Jefferson Kirkland, Jr. of Moreland; her daughter, Fran Childree of Gay; and her granddaughter, Lori. She was preceded in death by her husband, Innis Jefferson Kirkland. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville, with the Reverend Harrison Cain officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Presbyterian Quilters and Crafters, P. O. Box 176, Hogansville, GA. Claude A.
