Martha Elizabeth Garrison

MARTHA E. GARRISON Martha Elizabeth Garrison, 84, of LaGrange, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, November 2, at Sunnyside Baptist Church in LaGrange. The Reverend Robert Burnett and the Reverend S. T. Janney will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Garrison was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Redan, daughter of the late William Dewey and Nellie Ruth Jones Pickens. A resident of LaGrange since 1943, she was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, was an avid quilter, and enjoyed sewing. Survivors include daughters, Deborah Simmons and Elaine Scott, both of LaGrange; son, Glenn Garrison and Debbie, of Hogansville; grandchildren, Christy Watkins, Cecily Rushton, Matthew Scott, and Lori Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Brittney Watkins, Madison Rushton, and Bryant Rushton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Garrison, and son, Dewey Garrison. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
