Marion (Sandy) Hudson

MR. MARION (SANDY) HUDSON Mr. Marion David (Sandy) Hudson, 86, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at St. Martin's in the Pine Skilled Nursing Facility in Birmingham. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.. Friday, August 30, at the graveside in the Luthersville Cemetery, with the Reverend Carl Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., Friday. Born September 17, 1926 in Graniteville, South Carolina, Mr. Hudson was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army, lived in Decatur for 30 years and Marietta for 25 years, had been a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed activities in his home workshop. He received a Bachelors degree from what is now Georgia State University and retired from the U.S. Treasury Department. Mr. Hudson moved to the Birmingham area in 2003 where he attended Faith Presbyterian Church and was active in the New Merkle Senior Center in Cahaba Heights. The last two months of his life, he was blessed with excellent care at St. Martin's in the Pines Skilled Nursing Facility. Survivors include his daughter in-law, Claire Hudson of Birmingham; granddaughters, Amy Hudson of Birmingham and Jessica Hudson, of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Montene Wilson Hudson, and his son, David William Hudson In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Hudsons memory can be made to; Faith Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4601 Valley Dale Rd., Birmingham, AL 35242.
