Marie B. Smith

Mrs. Marie Burdette Smith, 76, of LaGrange, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Smith was born October 18, 1943, in LaGrange, daughter of the late William Hoyt Burdette and Bernice Freeman Burdette. A resident of LaGrange most of her life, she was employed many years as a bookkeeper, retired from LaGrange Plastics, Inc., and was a member of Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County. She enjoyed keeping her home, cooking, and baking and was known for her cake-making ability. Survivors include her husband, Bill Smith of LaGrange; daughter and son in-law, Donna and Ken Jeter of LaGrange; son and daughter in-law, Bo and Jean Smith of Roanoke, AL; sister and brother in-law, Libby and Randy Jordan of LaGrange; granddaughters, Kimberly and Blake Sherwood of Freeport, FL, Miriam and Tyler Reynolds of Auburn, AL, Taylor and Jacob Logan of Atlanta; and great-grandchildren, Grant Sherwood and Owen Sherwood. A private funeral service will be conducted Saturday, April 11, at the graveside in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, with her husband of 61 years, Bill Smith, officiating. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
