Marie Hanners Johnson

Mrs. Marie Hanners Johnson, 69, of Bluffton, South Carolina and formerly of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her home.

Mrs. Johnson was born December 9, 1952, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Earl J. Hanners and Doris Edwards Hanners. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she was a 1971 graduate of Hogansville High School and was employed many years at The Citizens Banks of Hogansville. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and is remembered as a loving grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Duffey of Bluffton, SC; son, Matt Johnson and Lisa Pike of LaGrange; grandchildren, Megan Duffey, Will Johnson, and Benjamin Duffey; brothers, Ricky and Suzi Hanners of Rock Hill, SC, Mike and Edna Hanners of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Johnson; brothers, Robert (R.O.) Hanners and Earl J. Hanners, Jr.; and sisters, Melissa Hanners Smith and Debbie Hanners Martin.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Wednesday.
