Mrs. Marianne C. Stone, 90, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Hospice LaGrange.

Born October 17, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Stone was the daughter of the late Dr. Pompeo Benjamin Candela and Gwendolyn Cormack Candela. She spent most of her childhood in Maryland and lived in Fayette County from 1978 until making her home in Hogansville in 1991. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville, where she was a member of the choir and the Ebenezer Quilters. Mrs. Stone loved horses and her dogs, and especially enjoyed supporting and encouraging her children in all their activities.

Survivors include her children, Michael Magnan of Hogansville, Melinda "Missy" and Jerry Mizzell of Grantville, Christopher and Lisa Stone of LaGrange; grandchildren, Samantha and Jeremiah Pape of Greenville, Douglas and Dana Stone of Newnan; and her brother, Jack Candela of Leonardtown, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard "Billy" Stone of Hogansville who was also fondly known as "Red," and her sister, Arlene Cullins of Clements, MD.

A celebration of the life of Marianne C. Stone will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville, with the Reverend Harrison Cain officiating.
