Louise Dye Philpot Ware, 97, a resident of Eastville, VA, passed away on June 9, 2016. A native of LaGrange, GA, Louise was the daughter of the late Henry Edwin Dye and the late Ruth Garrett Dye. Her first husband was the late David Allen Philpot, Jr. Her second husband was the late Georgia State Representative James Crawford Ware of Hogansville, GA.
After retiring as the librarian for the Virginia Highway Department, Louise found meaningful ways to volunteer in local libraries, the West Georgia Medical Center, and the Eastville Thrift Store. She actively assisted with all the functions at First United Methodist Church in Hogansville, GA, and then at the Eastville Baptist Church in Virginia. Louise was known for her delicious southern cooking, for her generosity, and for her stalwart faith in Christ.
In Eastville, VA, Louise Ware is survived by her son, Allen Philpot and his wife, Linda; a grandson, Jesse A. Philpot and his wife, Jennifer; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Louise Philpot, Eli David Philpot, and Ellis Jacob Philpot. Louise is also survived by three Ware step-children, Suzanna Ware O'Donnell of Portland, Maine; John R Ware of Hogansville, GA; David A. M. Ware of New Orleans, LA. Louise was predeceased by her step-son, Peter Ware of Carrollton, GA. She is also survived by her eight Ware grandchildren, Patrick Ware and Amy Ware, both of Athens, GA; Bob Ware of Lund, Sweden; Caitlin O'Donnell and Emily Ware, both of Cambridge, MA; John R. Ware, II, of Marietta, GA; Libby Ware Wunderlich, of Memphis, TN; and Tom O'Donnell of Brooklyn, NY.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Helen Henry officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 414 E. Main Street, Hogansville, GA, 30230.
