Louis E. Brummett

Mr. Louis E. Brummett, 88, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Brummett was born April 12, 1936, in Albany, KY, son of the late Roy Hershell Brummett and Ruth Luttrell Brummett Crawford. He attended Lindsey Wilson Junior College in Kentucky, received a Bachelors degree from Kentucky Weslyan University, and earned Masters and Education Specialist degrees from Auburn University. He had a long career in education and served as superintendent of the Hogansville School System, as principal of Roopville Elementary School, as principal of Central of Carrollton High School, and as assistant superintendent of Jefferson (GA) City Schools. Mr. Brummett was Methodist by faith and lived in Hogansville for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Reeves Brummett of Hogansville; sons, Mark Russell Brummett and his wife Rhonda Brummett of Hogansville, Beau Franklin Brummett of Villa Rica; grandson, Joshua Black of Hogansville; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Donna Ruth Claborn and her daughter Paula McWhorter, both of Albany, KY. He is also survived by his wife's nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Dr. John Mattox and the Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
