Lewis F. Portwood

Mr. Lewis F. Portwood, 87, of LaGrange, passed away, Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Born November 11, 1928 in Greenville, Mr. Portwood was the son of the late Lewis Portwood, Sr. and Mary McCray Portwood. He was a member of New Life Church and worked for many years in the men's department at Mansour's Department Store in LaGrange. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Portwood of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Kelli and John Hurn of Collinsville, Il, James and Rebecca Portwood of LaGrange, and Clinton Allen Portwood of Turkey; three great-grandchildren, Eliza, Aayla, and Luke Hurn; and a brother, Obie and Eleanor of Montgomery, Al. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lex Frank Portwood; daughter, Lib Portwood; daughter in-law, Vicki Portwood; one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Conrad DeFriese will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 3 Wednesday afternoon.
