Mr. Lawrence E. Stitcher, 84, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Stitcher was born April 29, 1931, in Coweta County, son of the late Hories Edward Stitcher and Clara Mae Dewberry Stitcher. A resident of Troup County most of his life, he began work as a doffer at Dunson Mill but spent most of his working career as a self-employed brick and block mason. He enjoyed his home and his land and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his children, Joanne and Walter Capes of LaGrange, Bobby and Lorene Stitcher, Gail Stitcher, Brenda and Danny Chatham, Lorie and Robbie Johnson all of Hogansville, Kenneth and Terita Stitcher, Tanya Hall all of LaGrange, Teresa and Richard Fuller, Denise and Jerry Ivey all of Hogansville, Dennis and Ann Pike of LaGrange, Joe and Audrey Pike of Pine Mountain; sisters, Elvie and Howard Wade, Shirley and Buddy Moon all of Hogansville; 28 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirlene Stitcher; and sisters, Marie Costley and Wilma Stitcher.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in the Stitcher Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
