Mr. Larry B. Parker, 77, of Sharpsburg, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at his home.
Mr. Parker was born May 6, 1945, in Ft. Payne, Alabama, son of the late Joe Tolbert Parker and Ada Westmoreland Parker. A U.S. Army veteran of service in the Vietnam War, he retired from MARTA after serving as a bus and train operator, was a member of Family Worship Center in Hogansville, and was a firm believer who loved Jesus. He was a talented wood-worker, enjoyed fishing, and loved playing the piano, guitar, and bass guitar.
Survivors include his sons, Mark and Sheila Parker of McDonough, Larry Parker of Cataula; step-sons, Eric Barnett and Robert Barnett, both of Newnan; grandson, Kamren and Hanna Barnett of Hogansville; and sister in-law, Evalean Parker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Parker; second wife, Delores Parker; and brothers, Harold Mack Parker and Bobby Joe Parker.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend James Calhoun will officiate and interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6.
