Mrs. LaRose Crews Surowic, 91, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the home of her daughter in LaGrange.
Mrs. Surowic was born April 23, 1933, in Carroll County, daughter of the late Olin Purn Crews and Fannie Ruth Boswell Crews Coleman, and was also preceded in death by her step-father, Charlie Coleman. She was employed many years as a seamstress and also worked at Carter's. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, Mrs. Surowic lived in many locations during her late husband's military career, had participated in bowling leagues, and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her daughters, Bettina Potter and her husband Timothy of LaGrange, and Katrina Hill of Roanoke, AL; son, Robert Surowic and his wife Michelle of LaGrange; grandchildren, Kellie Davis, Alan Potter, Vincent Surowic, Dylan Surowic, Marie Cummings, and Cahlon Hill; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, SFC Winzenz "Vince" Surowic, USA Ret.; son in-law, Ferlin Hill; and brothers, Jack Crews, Sr. and Fred Crews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Wesley Boatman will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service.
