Mrs. Kay Hethcox Austin, 70, of Hogansville, affectionately known as "Red," passed away, Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Austin was born July 9, 1946, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Emmett and Christine Murphy Hethcox. A lifelong resident of Troup County, she was employed for many years as a secretary for the Troup County School System, LaGrange College, and West Georgia Technical College.
Survivors include her husband, Lamar Austin of Hogansville; sons and daughter in-law, Mike and Jana Austin and their son Elijah of LaGrange, Casey Austin and his son Caleb of Hogansville; sisters, Gail Harris of Powder Springs, Joyce Myers of Arkansas; and brother, Larry Hethcox, also of Arkansas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jarrell Hethcox, and sisters, Carol Titus and Katie Mae Cox.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

he family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
