Kathryn Ann Murphy Purnell

Mrs. Kathryn Ann Murphy Purnell was born October 31, 1949 in Luthersville, Georgia to the late James "Jim" Murphy and Beatrice Rowe Murphy. She passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Dothan, Alabama. She was a loving wife, mother and Nana who was loved by all that knew her. She was a retired school teacher that loved gardening, shopping, spending time with family, the beach and her beloved pets. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Andalusia, Alabama. She is survived by her husband, Michael Purnell of Red Level, Alabama; daughter, Michelle Purnell (Andy) Cunningham; granddaughter, Emily Nicole Cunningham; grandson, Andrew Michael (Drew) Cunningham all of Jakin, GA; sisters, Brenda (Walley) Thigpen of Thomson, Ga, Mavis Beck of Luthersville; brothers, Arnold Murphy and Larry Murphy (Lisa) all of Luthersville; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends that she cared for deeply. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Juanita Murphy and brother-in-law, Bill Beck, of Luthersville. A private graveside memorial service will be conducted in the Luthersville Cemetery, with the Reverend Kenneth Heinzel officiating. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
